Controls

Tap any piece to select it and tap a highlighted square to move it. Touch-friendly board options make accurate piece selection comfortable on any screen size.

Scoring

There is no points tally — victory means delivering checkmate, the moment your opponent's King has no legal escape. The app tracks the position through every rule, including en passant, castling, under-promotion, draw by repetition, perpetual check and the 50-move rule.

When does a round end?

A round ends when one King is in checkmate and cannot be rescued by any legal move, or when the game reaches a recognised draw condition such as repetition or the 50-move rule.

Tips & Tricks

Turn on 'Show Threatened Pieces' early in a game — seeing which of your pieces are under attack at a glance stops most beginner blunders
If the AI at your current level feels too easy or too punishing, you can change the difficulty mid-session to find the level that gives you a real fight without frustration
Use undo and redo as a learning tool: try a move, see how the computer responds, undo it, and then try the alternative to compare outcomes
Castling is fully supported — get comfortable using it early because moving your King to safety behind a rook is one of the most reliable ways to survive the middle game
